Biography

Biography

A woman with a Trans experience, activist, qualified researcher, Ph.D. Scholar and professional trainer. In 2020, Aisha became the worlds' first transgender women to represent her government as part of the official state delegation at the UN (CEDAW Committee) in Geneva, Switzerland. It was the very first time in history that a transgender person has represented any country for a reporting procedure of an official UN treaty review. Aisha has also been listed as one of the most successful Transgender women in the world. She has received "Pride of Pakistan" Award by Pakistan Army in March 2022 for her services for human rights of transgender community in Pakistan.

Aisha has served as the UNDP Expert Consultant to the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Pakistan from May 2019 to February 2021. She has been working for transgender empowerment, health and rights in Pakistan since 2015 and has undertaken innovative and impressive milestones. Aisha has served as a focal person for transgender rights at National commission for Human Rights (NCHR), Government of Pakistan and is a co-founder of Trans led organization "Wajood Society".

In 2021, Aisha has been appointed as the Ambassador for inclusive education by the Government of Punjab. Aisha also has the honor of becoming Pakistan’s first Transgender lecturer and first Transgender person to serve as a consultant in any Federal Ministry of Pakistan. In 2021 she has become alumni of prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) which is U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program and alumni of European Union Visitors Program (EUVP). In 2018, she served as the member of the Chairing pool in ILGA World conference in New Zealand and in 2017 she got selected to become the chairing pool member in ILGA Asia conference in Cambodia. In 2022, she got elected as the Executive Board Member of ILGA Asia for the next two years.

Aisha's research papers on Transgender people has been Published by Tailor and Francis (impact factor publications) and her research paper on HIV has been published in Gulf Medical journal. She was the member of National Task Force on Transgender Bill and has played an important role in getting the transgender bill passed by the Government of Pakistan. This Bill is now an Act i.e. Transgender Persons (protection of rights) Act 2018.

Currently she is working as the Director Programs at Wajood Society, a trans led organization in Islamabad and she is also doing her PhD. at University of York, England. She also works with several government and international organizations as an expert consultant & trainer.
