John holds undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Biosciences, a PGCE in Post 16 Education, a PhD in Science and Radicalism and won a National Teaching Fellowship in Cross Disciplinary Collaborations in Writing and Learning.
He has a life long commitment to learning and teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He supervises a range of international doctoral students largely in the field of educational management.
His research interests include the politics of learning and the management of Higher Education. He is involved in developing and extending new pedagogical approaches to meeting the demands of a changing and challenging world – for example problem based learning, collaborative learning and cross cultural learning.
