During March the School for Business and Society hosted two short training visits for local government officials and elected mayors from across Thailand. The visits included talks from local government officials and elected members on topics of local government, public health and environment management, a visit to City of York facilities, and a presentation ceremony and lunch hosted by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of York.  The visit was jointly organised by the University of York and Thammasat University.

Professor Supasawad Chardchawarn (Vice-Rector, Thammasat University) led one of the visiting delegations and commented that "magnificent preparation from the University of York ensured the lectures helped our Thai delegates thoroughly understand contemporary English local government. We felt particularly welcome to the City with the Lord Mayor awarding certificates on our final day."

Professor Neil Lunt, Associate Dean (Internationalisation) in the School for Business and Society, further commented "The visiting delegations are a further example of strong collaboration between our School and Thammasat University. Joining together with the City of York ensured the delegates had a meaningful introduction to local government, our city and the wider region."
