Thammasat Business School celebrates its 85th anniversary
To mark this momentous occasion, colleagues from York were invited to attend a research symposium.
The Thammasat Business School (TBS) recently celebrated its 85th anniversary by holding a two-day TBS-York Research Symposium on the 26-27 July 2023 at its Tha Pracan Campus in Thailand.
Background
In 2022, the School for Business and Society at the University of York signed a memorandum of understanding with TBS, and the two schools enjoy a collaborative academic partnership that shares the mission for public good.
Research Symposium
The opening speech was given by the Dean, Professor Somchai Supattarakul, and the event was joined by the visiting team of Professor Bob Doherty, Dean of the School for Business and Society, along with Professor Ian Kirkpatrick, Deputy Dean, Dr Anna Einarsdottir, Dr Aniela Wenham and Dr Sophie Mackinder.
Professor Doherty gave the keynote session on 'Global Grand Challenges 2023 - What can we do?
There were paper presentations by colleagues from both TBS and York under the themes:
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
- Health and Wellbeing
- AI and Brand Challenges
- Inclusive Value Chain, and Social Enterprise Activity
- Panel discussion: Social Enterprises and Social/Public Policies within the Context of Geopolitical Challenges
Talks were also given by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Thailand Government officials from the Office of Social Enterprise Promotion (OSEP).
During the visit to Thailand, Professor Doherty met with the British Embassy in Bangkok and Chavit (Bank) Uttamachai, Science and Innovation Advisor, and Boonyarat Kittivorawut, County Director, Economic and Sustainable Development, to update them on the work of both schools.
