20th anniversary of the Seoul Welfare Foundation
During September Professor Neil Lunt was a guest at an event in Seoul to mark the 20th anniversary of the Seoul Welfare Foundation.
The Foundation was established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2001 and has expanded as demands for support and intervention have grown. The Foundation provides services for youth, job seekers, and those experiencing loneliness and forms of social and financial exclusion. The Foundation undertakes project planning and development, evaluation and provides support and training for facilities, frequently incubating pilot programs that are then introduced nationally.
Professor Lunt said:
"I first visited Seoul in 2000. In the 20 years since Seoul has become a truly global city. Economic and social change however have necessitated rapid social policy development: services, regulation and income support to support the wellbeing of its citizens. The Foundation has played a key role in shaping this activity. I was honoured to attend their celebratory conference and be a part of the informed discussions."
