Understanding family and community vulnerabilities in transition to net zero

The project will build a framework for understanding and responding to how the UK’s transition to net zero will affect families, and the communities in which they live.

Researchers from the University of York, University of Leeds, and Trinity College Dublin are working with the Institute for Community Studies to investigate the UK's transition to 'net zero'. The project will explore how the transition will affect families and communities.

The new project, which is funded by the Nuffield Foundation, seeks to help level the playing field as the UK moves towards a net zero (or ‘carbon neutral’) society by 2050.

Dr Carolyn Snell from the School for Business and Society said 'this project represents a timely opportunity to investigate how to implement the transition to net zero in the fairest way possible'.
