Professor Bob Doherty leads £6m award to investigate the role food systems play in the health of children and the environment
Bob Doherty as Principal Investigator has been awarded a £6m grant from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF). The project, "Transformations to Regenerative Food Systems" (TReFS) has the vision of transforming food systems across the UK towards being 'regenerative', and was one of only four bids to be awarded.
The team will work with diverse stakeholders (including the Coop, Tesco and the National Farmers Union) to change the Yorkshire food system and use the learning to inform change efforts in other parts of the UK and beyond. Academic collaborators are from across York (Health Sciences, Biology and Environment & Geography) as well as City, Cranfield, Leeds, Manchester, and Oxford Universities.
