The Children's Society Good Childhood Report 2020 published today is the tenth annual report on child wellbeing in England. It is the result of a long-standing relationship between the University of York and The Children's Society.
This the tenth report co-authored by Dr Gwyther Rees Honorary Research Fellow in the School for Business and Society. He is now working at the UNICEF Office for Research in Florence. Until recently he was the co-Principal Investigator of the Children's Worlds Survey published earlier this month which was based in the Social Policy Research Unit. Dr Rees contributed analysis of the OECD PISA survey data and the time series analysis of trends in child subjective wellbeing using the Understanding Society survey for the latest Good Childhood Report.
Professor Jonathan Bradshaw commented, "We are very proud of Dr Rees's really useful and striking work using the PISA data. It shows that child wellbeing in England is worse compared to most other rich countries and the times series analysis of the youth data in Understanding Society that child wellbeing has deteriorated over the last 10 years and is much worse than in 2010."
