Creating shared value to tackle malnutrition in Northern Ghana
Event details
The aim of African Agrifood Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (AAKTP) is for UK universities to enhance their international impact through a fully funded International KTP programme focused on agri-food. In 2021, the University of York, the University of Development Studies (Ghana), and Savannah & Sahel Commodities Ltd. (Ghana) joined forces and were awarded the first AAKTP fund (£136,816.25) by Innovate UK (UK Research and Innovation).
This partnership developed a recipe and process for a new cereal brand to feed needy and hungry schoolchildren in Ghana. This project was timely and a response to recent calls to improve the quality and safety of free school meals through the Ghanaian School Feeding Programme. Going beyond its initial objectives, this project engaged a range of stakeholders in creating shared value across all steps of a farm-to-spoon strategy.
One year after our AAKTP project's completion, we invite you to a dissemination event hosted by Dr Karolos Papadas (UoY Lead Academic of the AAKTP).
