Access to the Retreat archive

As we prepare the Retreat archive for digitisation, some disruption to access to the documents via the searchroom will be unavoidable.

Over the next two years we will be digitising the archive of the Retreat. As we prepare the archive for digitisation, digitise and re-pack the documents, some disruption to access to the documents via the searchroom will be unavoidable.

If you are planning a visit to the Borthwick Institute to access original material from the Retreat archive, please contact us in advance and let us know which elements of the archive you wish to see. We will be able to advise on whether access is possible, and if it is not possible, for how long the material you wish to see may be unavailable.
