The Borthwick holds a significant number of archives relating to the environment, landscape and natural history, across a broad span of our holdings. From environmental organisations to church records, to local businesses and individual conservationists, the collections hold a wealth of data about the Yorkshire landscape, how people have interacted with it, and how that has changed over time.
These include the archives of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, the York and District Field Naturalists Society, the Yorkshire Mammal Group and the Yorkshire Gardens Trust, as well as individuals like Catherine 'Kit' Rob, Michael Thompson, Derek Ungley, James Hornby, Fanny Rollo Wilkinson and James Russell.
