On 30 June 2018, JBU scientists joined a Santander team and a long-distance walking group in tackling the fearsome Hambleton Hobble to help raise funds for York Against Cancer. In scorching sunshine, they walked the 30-mile course in an impressive 13 hours.
Joining the walk were Jeff and Pat Coulson, who successfully completed the Hobble with daughter Kate to support York Against Cancer after Jeff was treated for bladder cancer late last year. Kate’s Santander team-mates, Nicola and Sarah, were also successful and Sarah’s dad, another bladder cancer survivor, joined in for part of the walk. Bladder cancer research is the speciality of the JBU, so it was particularly fitting that together the team raised a magnificent £5,800. Kate raised £3,400 which her employers Santander boosted by £1,000, while the JBU raised £1,400.
