  • All flammable solvent(H224, H225, H226), e.g.
    • Ethers
      • diethyl ether
      • 1,4-Dioxane
      • Tetrahydrofuran (THF)

    • Hydrocarbons
      • Cyclohexane
      • Ethyl acetate
      • Hexane
      • Pentane
      • Petroleum spirit (40-60, 60-80, 80-100)
      • Toluene/xylene
    • Water miscible
      • Acetone
      • Ethanol
      • Methanol
      • Propan-1-ol/Propan-2-ol
  • Hierarchy of solvent disposal: halogenated > flammable > aqueous
  • MUST NOT contain reactive substances e.g. oxidising & reducing agents, alkalis, inorganic acids
  • Dilute alcohols (<25%) e.g. methanol, ethanol, can be disposed of down the sink
  • MUST USE plastic coated glass bottles for ‘FLAMMABLE’ waste
