Chemical Stocks
- All hazardous chemical stocks must be disposed of via Biology Stores & Goods Services (F0 Corridor). Water soluble chemicals that do not have any hazardous properties can be disposed of down the sink
- All chemicals must be suitably contained (e.g. in bucket trolley / bottle carrier) to avoid unnecessary spillages during transport from lab areas to Biology Stores
- Chemical stocks are stored safely and securely before collection by a registered chemical disposal contractor.
If disposing of more than 10 stock chemicals please email biol-stores@york.ac.uk with a list of the chemical names and quantities. This allows Stores to contact the waste company to arrange for the items to be added to the consignment note and be picked up on the next collection
- Disposal of chemical stocks is free at the point of disposal you are pre-charged for waste disposal, with 3% of the cost of hazardous chemicals purchased and 1% of the cost of biological kits charged to your grant quarterly
