Introduction

Biological research laboratories generate a range of chemical wastes, some of which can be hazardous and cause harm to humans and /or the environment.  As such, it is important that appropriate disposal routes are available to, and used by, all those generating the waste. 

The following outlines the departmental policy and guidance for the safe disposal of chemical waste disposed of via hazardous waste contractors, or via laboratory sinks into the sewage / trade effluent discharge system.
