Safety training is an important requirement for everyone’s work activities. The level of training required inevitably depends on the nature of your work.
Low risk work activities: can often be adequately covered by informal training which provides appropriate safety information and instruction on relevant issues.
Higher risk work activities: high risk activities, in contrast, require more detailed formal training to ensure these work activities are conducted in a safe manner.
Reviewing your training needs: your safety training needs will inevitably change during your stay in the Department, and should therefore be reviewed at regular intervals. These training needs should be discussed with your line manager / supervisor who is responsible for organising appropriate training for your work activities.
The 'Performance Review' process provides a useful opportunity for staff and postgraduates to discuss safety training requirements and review what training has been attended.
