Early identification is crucial and may prevent more serious effects.
Employees must ensure they immediately report any symptoms that may be related to latex allergy to their line manager and the University Occupational Health Adviser (OHA).
They will be requested to make an appointment with the OHA for assessment.
The OHA may, in some cases, also refer them for further assessment by the Occupational Health Physician.
If latex sensitivity is suspected the individual will be referred to the GP for confirmation. Depending on the severity of the allergy, the individual and the manager will be advised accordingly.
