Our work activities & the environmental conditions we are exposed to can cause a range of work-related ill health problems, with conditions ranging from long-latency diseases, to stress and musculoskeletal disorders.
Organisations have often neglected some work related ‘health’ issues whilst focussing on more traditional ‘safety’ issues which can be easier to manage. However, there is now an increasing emphasis of the need for employers to pay more attention to the ‘health’ in ‘health & safety’, highlighted by the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) strategy ‘Helping Great Britain Work Well’ which includes ‘Tackling Ill Health’ as a key strategic theme.
