Theft, vandalism and violent crime can be a problem in both remote and urban areas. Hazards to workers (particularly people working alone and those judged to be particularly vulnerable) should be considered carefully as part of the fieldwork risk assessment process and appropriate precautions identified. Local crime rates, social and political factors should be considered and police or social workers consulted if necessary.
