Introduction
Everyone working in Biology labs will use hazardous substances (typically chemicals or biological agents) and could potentially be exposed to them. Some of those substances are potentially very harmful but only if the dose received is significant. Fortunately, because of the nature of work in our Department, nobody should be exposed to harmful amounts of any hazardous substance. Attention to personal protection and hygiene combined with good laboratory technique should ensure that all work can be conducted without significant risk.
