Small spillages of relatively low hazard chemicals can be safely dealt with by gently scooping the dry material with a scoop / dustpan & brush, taking care to minimise production of airborne particles.
Spills of high hazard materials require greater care. Small amounts can be carefully removed with a wet cloth / tissues before bagging and disposal as chemical waste via Biology Stores.
Larger spills of high hazard chemicals (e.g. toxins / carcinogens) present greater risk of exposure, especially by inhalation of particulate material. If the spillage is considered unsafe to clear-up by local laboratory worker(s), inform ‘Biology Infrastructure’ or the Biology H&S Advisor to get assistance.
