We have a team of Postgraduate Student Reps (Grad Reps) within the Department of Biology.
We are representatives elected by the PG students whose role involves taking suggestions from yourselves and sorting out all the things that matter to you, so that you can make the most of your time here. Whether this is communicating with the relevant staff, holding votes or sitting on the Board of Study meetings. We are there to make sure your opinions are heard and that actions are taken.
New Student Reps are elected in Autumn each year, for more information contact biology-naturalsciences-engagement@york.ac.uk
Not every Research Degree goes smoothly, however there is help out there. Your first point of contact is of course your Supervisor or Thesis Advisory Panel members, but there are a few other places to try too:
If you experience any problems with bullying in the department, or feel you are being discriminated against because of gender/race, or have any queries on University policies on these issues, please refer to the University policy for information who to contact.
Grad Reps attend the Biology Graduate Studies Board (BGSB) and Biology Student Voice meeting each term.
