Contemporary practice research cluster
We support and promote creativity in contemporary practices and critical analysis of those practices.
Practice research and other methodologies are employed to develop and offer critical insight into cutting edge artistic outputs, as well as their artistic, historical and cultural contexts.
The cluster includes artists, practitioners, practice researchers and scholars. We examine contemporary practices in:
- music (including contemporary composition, performance, improvisation, sound art and music production)
- theatre (acting, directing and playwriting), including documentary and verbatim theatre
- film and television (film and television production, script writing, film making, storytelling and cinematography)
- creative technologies (digital, interactive and immersive art, generative art, artificial creativity and interactive storytelling).
The cluster includes the long-running Contemporary Music Research Collective, which hosts seminars, performances and workshops every term, with distinguished visiting artists and scholars.
