Working title: Queer encounters with the reproductive imperative — addressing the impact of reproductive futurism on visions of queer futurity in science fiction theatre

Supervisor: Dr Louise LePage

In my research, I analyse how reproductive futurism has influenced conceptions of future society in science fiction theatre. In particular, I examine how reproductive futurism and the prioritisation of the figurative Child has affected the imagined role of queer people in humanity’s future. Through my own writing and theatre projects, I investigate and trial methods for destabilizing and challenging these narrative patterns.

Biography

Biography

I began performing professionally at the age of 13 in my hometown Sacramento, California. In 2015, I moved to London to complete my MA in Music Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Since graduating, I have written, performed, directed and otherwise aided in the development of new scripts, working across audio drama, musicals and fringe theatre. I found my focus in queer science fiction theatre through the writing and development process of my award-winning play MISSION CREEP.
