Integrating music theory within instrumental and vocal lessons: Examining the perspectives and experiences of teachers in the UK
In the current context of instrumental and vocal music education in the UK, music theory seems to be very often and for various reasons neglected. The aim of this research is bringing a clearer view on the array of perspectives instrumental and vocal teachers may have on the inclusion of music theory in their lessons.
I hold a Music BA and MA from the West University of Timisoara/Romania.
In the past 10 years, I have gained considerable experience in teaching music theory, flute, and piano in Romania, the UAE and the UK. I currently work as a GTA in the School of Arts and Creative Technologies on courses related to Music Education and Music Theory. I have recently gained the status of Associate Fellow of HEA through the YLTA programme.
