Colin Ward is a part-time lecturer working on the BSc in Film and Television Production, specialising in studio production and screenwriting. He is an experienced practitioner, having worked for over 20 years in broadcast television for ITV and the BBC, and can offer guidance to students on what they can expect when they join the industry.
His career in children’s TV began at ITV, working across factual, entertainment and drama formats. He won a Bafta for The Scoop before joining Granada Kids to produce the Bafta-nominated gameshow Jungle Run. Moving to the BBC, he won a second Bafta for the gameshow Raven, going on to work as an Executive Producer with CBBC Scotland on a range of entertainment and drama formats.
He is Deputy Director of the Children’s Media Foundation and has responsibility for their Executive Group, as well as the CMF’s links with the research community. He is currently leading a CMF project to bring academics and media producers together with other children's advocates to influence government legislation on the regulation and financing of public service media.
