New funding to support York refugees through creative workshops
A team from the School of Arts and Creative Technologies (ACT) has won a Cultural Wellbeing grant to support a community initiative in York.
The Make it York and City of York Council funding was awarded to Dr Liz Haddon, senior lecturer in the School of ACT. The project will start in the autumn, in collaboration with York City of Sanctuary and York Citadel.
Dr Haddon said: “This project will help foster a sense of community and wellbeing for refugee residents in York through creative music and arts activities, which will support the development of personal and group empowerment, belonging and wellbeing.
“We're working in collaboration with York City of Sanctuary and York Citadel, and are delighted to have received Cultural Wellbeing funding from the City of York Council and Make it York, enabling this valuable work."
