This module is an optional module for MA Management of the Creative and Cultural Industries, 3rd year Interactive media Students, MSc in Creative Artificial Intelligence students and more and it enables an understanding of practical business considerations and an appreciation of the economic context in which contemporary industry tech professionals operate.

The module involves developing initial ideas for an interactive or digital media product or service and creating a business pitch that explores and exploits its potential. The module also focuses on developing an understanding of the macro-environmental considerations which affect interactive media product and service development, both nationally and internationally.

With a mix of MA Management of the Creative and Cultural Industries, 3rd Year Interactive Media Students , MSc in Creative Artificial Intelligence Students and more, this is a really creative mixed group of students working together in groups to come up with some really innovative ideas!

I really love basically everything through the module. especially, from the beginning of choosing groups, the students can choose their own group by choosing the ideas that they are interested in, which that everyone in the group is motivated to contribute into the process of business development. Also, having chance to present in front of the class, it’s a valuable chance to improve presentation skills and build confidence.”

Module convenor Heather Niven says, “Every year I am so impressed by the increased confidence, creativity and innovation of the students presenting their business ideas.  The industry input adds a realism to the module and provides students with great feedback to add into their assessments at the end of the semester.  Classes are relaxed and fun and the students respond really well to the practical nature of the activities. I am hoping to expand this module next year so even more students can benefit from the business skills taught on the course.”
