Dr Jenna Ng's most recent book receives Honourable Mention award by the British Association for Film, Television and Screen Studies (BAFTSS)
Dr Jenna Ng's most recent book, The Post-Screen Through Virtual Reality, Holograms and Light Projections: Where Screen Boundaries Lie (Amsterdam University Press), was awarded Honourable Mention in the category of "Best First Monograph" by the British Association for Film, Television and Screen Studies (BAFTSS) in its 2023 publication awards competition.
The book examines how contemporary screen media eliminate the presence of the screen, and argues for how these disappearances of difference between image and object reflect shifting values in understanding media histories and political truth. Ultimately, contemporary contestations of reality against illusion affect understanding of the condition of being human and one's connections to one's world. Judges praised the book as "a fascinating exploration of changing relations between image and viewer within the context of contemporary media technologies... offer[ing] a nuanced and rich exploration of new theories of image making and their projections." The book is now downloadable for free through the Open Access service provider Knowledge Unlatched (KU).
