Together in Music: a new publication from OUP
A new book published features chapters by Department of Music staff.
Together In Music, published by Oxford University Press, November 2021, includes chapters by Music staff Professor Catherine Laws and Dr Liz Haddon, Dr Naomi Norton, and former student Kathryn King. The volume is edited by Professor Renee Timmers (University of Sheffield), Associate Professor Freya Bailes (University of Leeds), and Associate Professor Helena Daffern (Department of Electronic Engineering, University of York).
Catherine Laws and Liz Haddon presented their chapter at the Together in Music conference at the National Centre for Early Music, York in April 2018; their chapter, 'Playful production: collaborative facilitation in a music ensemble context' focuses on the work of The Assembled, a Music Department ensemble dedicated to working in an experimental, exploratory manner.
The chapter by Naomi Norton focuses on 'Ensemble musicians' health and wellness'; King's chapter entitled 'Ministry of sound: musical mediations in an English parish church', presents research from her AHRC-funded doctoral studies at the University of Oxford.
