MA Student Elysia Biro Awarded £3000 International Scholarship
Canadian postgraduate student Elysia Biro, who is currently doing an MA in Music Education, has been awarded a £3000 International Scholarship by the University of York to help cover tuition fees.
Elysia comes from the West Coast of Canada, and her musical influences vary greatly as a result of her wealth of musical experiences. In 2019, Elysia completed her Associate Diploma of the Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) in Toronto, Canada in Classical Piano Performance with Honours. The following year, she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Vancouver Island University. She recently recorded and released her first single, 'Take the Memories', and is looking forward to recording more music and in public once again after the coronavirus pandemic subsides.
Elysia is our first MA Music Education student from Canada. While at York, Elysia hopes to hone her teaching skills so that she can pass on her passion for music to her students. She is also planning on completing her ARCT in Voice so that she can start teaching singing as well.
