Anthony Hunt awarded 2021 Rebekah Wilson Prize for Interactive Music
Anthony Hunt, of the Department of Electronic Engineering, awarded 2021 Rebekah Wilson Prize for Interactive Music.
The Music Department is delighted to announce Anthony Hunt's entry The MIDI Hand as the 2021 winner of the Rebekah Wilson Prize for Interactive Music.
Anthony will receive £100, as well as have the opportunity to meet with composer, performer, and software entrepreneur Rebekah Wilson in autumn term.
The Department would like to thank the judging panel (Tom Collins, Music; Cobi Van Tonder, TFTI; Tim Wright, Music) for their time and detailed feedback.
Of Anthony's submission, a judge remarked: "This is a very neat haptic glove controller, with four buttons that each activates audio effects inside MAX/MSP including a low pass filter, volume control, frequency shifter and pan/LFO modulator. Stylish presentation, with everything very clearly explained and well documented. Well done!"
Another judge remarked: "A haptic interface that allows control of music software with movement, and switches worn on a glove. It waves in a future where composers and performers of electronic music might be freed from their mice and keyboards. A good HTML-based presentation with plenty of information about how all the technology functions”.
The Rebekah Wilson Prize for Interactive Music will run again in 2022.
