Event details

Tim is a young gay man who’s broke, unfit, and sexually frustrated. When he becomes a courier for the app Wallaby, he reckons he can finally turn his life around. But he’s not accounted for his own haplessness, an antique teapot collection, and a sinister conspiracy.

Secrets of a Wallaby Boy is a modern, queer update on the cheeky humour of retro British smut comedies like Confessions of a Window Cleaner, blended with the dystopian satire of Black Mirror. Upcoming actors Brandon McCaffrey and Billie Hindle star alongside Colin Baker (Doctor Who), Mark Benton (Anna and the Apocalypse) and Laurence R. Harvey (The Human Centipede 2 & 3).

This indie comedy feature is due for digital release, from Weird Rainbow Films and Bohemia Media, on 28th October. This is your opportunity to see it first as part of a limited run of screenings.

Trigger Warnings:

  • Sexual humour
  • Mild (non-graphic) sexual content
  • Rude language
  • Mild comic threat
  • Brief depiction of alcohol and drug use

Kieron Moore

Kieron Moore graduated from the University of York in 2014 with a BSc in Film and Television Production. He then spent a few years as a runner in the film and TV industry, before taking a job as a script editor for theatrical publisher Lazy Bee Scripts and becoming an independent filmmaker in his spare time. He set up Weird Rainbow Films with the intention of making comedy movies that celebrate queer identities, show off his home city of Manchester, and maintain an indie spirit.

In 2018, along with another York graduate, Abigail Henry, Kieron made Spectrum, a mid-length film which told intersecting stories set over one night in Manchester’s gay village. This had an award-winning, international festival run, followed by an online release. In 2022, Kieron directed his first feature film, Secrets of a Wallaby Boy, which is due for a digital release in October this year. He has also worked as a freelance writer for publications including Starburst Magazine, Doctor Who Adventures, and Campfire Graphic Novels.
