Pre 1900's: Labyrinth of Desire
Event details
Love, manipulation, and hidden identities. The Labyrinth of Desire fuses fairytale and intrigue to create a world where trickery and wit can prevail over honesty and rank. With love triangles, riddles, and an otherworldly labyrinth, this romantic comedy asks us: in a power-hungry society can you ever marry for love, or only for status?
In Michael Jacobs' contemporary translation of Lope de Vega’s Golden Age comic masterpiece, The Labyrinth of Desire sees the jilted Florela use her wit and charm to trick Ferrara’s finest men into competing in games of intelligence, resolve and bravery. The prize? Laura, the Duke’s daughter. Florela’s jealousy drives her to use deceit and disguise to manipulate Laura, but she soon faces her own unexpected dilemma - what happens if you fall for your own rival?
Dare to enter the labyrinth and discover how far you will go to satisfy your heart’s true desires…’
