About the speaker

Professor Hui Chen (Sichuan Conservatory of Music)

Professor Hui Chen is Head of the Vocal Music Teaching and Research Centre, Opera School, Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He is mainly engaged in the research and teaching of Chinese vocal music (Chinese poetry songs, Chinese opera, Chinese art songs and Chinese traditional folk songs). He has published over twenty research articles and five books, including The Application and Deduction of Qiang Folk Songs in Higher Music EducationAesthetic View of Folk Vocal MusicSichuan Folk Songs Collection as well as Musical Singing Course. Professor Chen has been a Visiting Professor at the University of York since last November, supported by a China Scholarship Council Award.
