International Alliance of Arts Management (IAAM) Conference 2024
Event details
The field of arts management is in a constant state of flux. Opportunities such as the rapid development of technologies – virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial technology – are not only revolutionising arts creation, and presentation, but also redefining the relationship between art and audiences. In the midst of this, arts managers, and education providers are faced with a vast array of opportunities but also unprecedented wider social challenges – climate change, increasing geopolitical instability, models of government funding that do not prioritise the arts, and decreased levels of public engagement in arts and cultural activities.
We ask our contributors how they think they can be best addressed and incorporated into educational programs that deliver both the needs of students and professionals in the sectors.
Our sessions will address the following topics:
What types of challenges should the arts management curriculum prioritise?
- How can these be addressed, most effectively, via collaborations between practitioners and universities?
- What is the added value of international networks to managerial practice, and curriculum development?
- How can new ideas around managing digital technology innovation be designed and developed in student-focused practical workshops?
- How should cultural and creative organisations understand audiences and approach them in the current context?
