Michael Legge
Postdoctoral Research Associate

Biography

Michael completed his BA hons (2014), MA (2015), and PhD (2021) at Cardiff University. His AHRC-funded PhD research concerned mortuary treatment in the Iron Age of eastern Britain, taking a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding post-mortem practices and the meaning of the dead on both a regional and inter-regional scale. Michael has also worked within commercial archaeology across the UK, as well as on rescue and research-led excavations.

Michael joined the Department of Archaeology in February 2022 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the ERC-funded COMMIOS project led by Professor Ian Armit. The multidisciplinary project, combining funerary archaeology, osteology, aDNA, and stable isotopes, explores population migrations and interactions across Britain and continental Europe during the Iron Age.
