Department Alumnus publishes his second book on Vikings!
Congratulations to Alex Harvey on 'Forgotten Vikings'
We are delighted to announce that Alex Harvey, a recent BA Archaeology and MA Medieval Archaeology graduate, is about to publish his second popular book! Hot on the heels of 'Riddles Of The Isle' (Alex's recent study of the history of the Isle of Axholme), 'Forgotten Vikings' is his second book, shortly to be published by Amberley. The book brings together 8 years of study and research since before he joined the University, through to his MA Thesis and beyond. It covers a wide range of topics from the Viking Age (793-1066), such as all of the places Scandinavians travelled to across the known world, the reasons for the onset of raiding, and the many ways in which 'vikings' changed their identity to suit the times they lived in.
Alex has a busy schedule of launch events lined up, including a free lecture hosted at the Yorkshire Museum's Tempest Anderson Hall, and a launch and book signing at Waterstone's on September 18th: Book here; tickets £5.
And much more to come: keep your eye on our social media.
Congratulations to Alex on all his hard work!
