Archaeology Graduate wins Prize for Viking Studies
Archaeology Graduate, Sarah Hall, wins Viking Society's Margaret Orme prize for Viking Studies
We are delighted to pass on the news that Sarah Hall, who finished her undergraduate degree at York this summer, has won the Viking Society's Margaret Orme prize, which is awarded competitively to students across the UK who have distinguished themselves in a field in the society's areas of interest (the study of medieval Scandinavia and the wider Viking world).
Sarah's dissertation -'Examining non-food plant usage in Viking York'- re-analysed archaeobotanical remains from the city's famous Coppergate excavations , with a view to unconventional uses. The panel found the work fascinating and were impressed by the depth of research.
Congratulations Sarah!
