National Student Survey 2021

The Department of Archaeology has received 100% for 'Overall Satisfaction' for both the subjects of ‘Archaeology’ and ‘Forensic and archaeological sciences’ in the 2021 National Student Survey (NSS). This also places us first out of the UK universities included in the survey for both subjects.

Professor Nicky Milner, Head of Department, commented "Staff in the department of Archaeology work exceptionally hard to deliver excellent teaching, and in particular this year should be applauded for going above and beyond with all the challenges faced with the pandemic, so it is wonderful to see such positive feedback from our students."

The NSS is a nationwide survey of final-year students in higher and further education that encourages them to give honest feedback about a variety of aspects of their university experience, including their department and course. This helps prospective students to make informed choices and also influences real change in future students’ experiences, from institution-level to course-level. 

The Department also achieved over 90% satisfaction in the following assessed areas:
