Park Hill flats 360 video:
From the University of York, and in collaboration with industry partner Human VR, this project has created a 360 degrees' video storytelling experience for Park Hill flats. It aims to capture the stories and identities of the estate, an important, but often overlooked, factor in its value as a Grade II* listed building. Aided by 3D models, stories of Park Hill life have been gathered from Sheffield City Archives, Urban Splash, and current residents, which discuss the sense of community, its reputation, facilities, and the redevelopment. The video presents the evolution of Park Hill's "streets in the sky", from the building's inception, through to its decline and regeneration. This was originally intended to be showcased at an exhibition in Virtual Reality, but could not be undertaken due to the COVID-19 situation. The 360 video can be viewed on a laptop by navigating the screen with your mouse, or on the YouTube app maneuvering your smartphone or tablet.
If you have an interest in Park Hill, we would appreciate your feedback on the video. This can be accessed via the following link: https://forms.gle/6PBh4po5ChDxdJBf9
The project is funded by XR Stories, who are investing in Yorkshire to research and develop immersive and interactive technologies for digital storytelling
