It's complicated: Evaluating plant-animal-human relationships in the Atacama Desert (4000-400 BP)
Seminar
Event details
This work aims to evaluate from an isotopic perspective how the relations among plants, animals and humans developed through time in northern Chile from 4000-400 BP. This, considers economic aspects such as agriculture and camelid herding, but also more socio-cultural ones such as animal companion. Results show a very complex scenario, calling for cautious interpretations when working with stable and radiogenic isotopes in the region.
