Get ready for the City Nature Challenge
From 25 to 28 April, we'll be taking part in the City Nature Challenge! The City Nature Challenge is one of the biggest efforts to record local wildlife, and by taking part you'll be helping to record biodiversity in your area.
So, whether you spot an interesting plant on your way to work, or find an insect in your garden, be sure to record it as part of the City Nature Challenge.
To take part, all you'll need to do is join our Alumni Sustainability Network project on iNaturalist, an app that allows users to share photos of their observations of nature and identify them with the help of others. The app is easy to use and you only need your smartphone's camera to record an observation.
By joining our group, you'll also get to see all the different kinds of nature our alumni are spotting all over the world!

Sustainability has been an important part of York for many years and is one of the key research themes. The launch of the 2022-30 Sustainability Plan also sees the University committing to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
