Join our York in London Alumni Group on Wednesday 16 October at 7pm for this fascinating hour long online tour of the Barbican Estate.

Looking back you will explore the history of the location before its destruction in 1940 and then the subsequent rebuilding and recovery of the area.

You’ll also get a chance to delve into some interesting questions. Why was such a large social housing and arts complex built here in the first place and why was it built in the Neo Brutalist style? We can promise some surprises!

Hosted by Peter Burley, (BA History, 1970), Chair of the York in London alumni group, this tour will give you a chance a to enjoy the history, setting and architecture of the Barbican Estate in London, one of the most iconic pieces of Brutalist architecture in the UK.
