Below are some questions you could adapt to meet the criteria of your role.
Service delivery
- Outline a time when you have successfully delivered a project
- Describe a time when you instigated change, and how you approached it
- Provide an example of when you had to plan work to be delivered as part of an annual/termly cycle
- Tell me about a time you had to handle multiple responsibilities. How did you organize the work you needed to do?
Collaboration and teamwork
- Provide an example of when you have delivered excellent customer service
- Tell me about a time you have successfully worked with a challenging or demanding customer/stakeholder. What did you do?
- How would your colleagues describe your main contributions to the team? Why?
- Describe your greatest success as part of a team. What role did you play?
- Tell us about a time when the team you were working with was under-delivering. What did you do in the circumstances?
Leadership and management
- Tell me about a time when you've successfully led a team
- What would you take into consideration when delegating tasks?
- What do you consider to be the most critical skills a manager needs to succeed in an environment like the University of York?
Digital literacy
- Outline how you have used an IT system or software to deliver efficiencies
- Outline your experience of using Excel/Google/relevant system
Supporting documents
Where appropriate you can ask candidates to provide supporting documents such as a CV or covering letter.
Care should be taken to ensure that candidates have sufficient time to prepare/update the relevant documents.
