Rewarding Excellence

'Rewarding Excellence' awards are intended to reward staff whose exceptional contribution, on a sustained basis over an appropriate period of time, is worthy of particular note.

It is not intended to replace the process of promotion or role review, nor the use of Temporary Responsibility Allowances. The scheme is only open to staff in Grades 1-8 (or equivalent)

What award is given?

Normally one additional increment on the salary scale within the employee's grade, which will then become the new salary for that employee.

Receiving a Rewarding Excellence award is usually the only way for an employee in the top point of their grade to move into a contribution point (see salary scales).

Process

Nominations are invited once a year, and are considered by a central panel.

Only where the majority of the panel consider the contribution to be at level 3 is the nomination successful.
