Additional support available under the Family Leave Policy
Effective 01 February 2025, UoY employees are entitled to neonatal care leave and pay if their baby, or babies, is under 28 days old and requires neonatal care for at least 7 consecutive days.
This follows a legislative change (effective 01 April 2025) whereby employees will be entitled to up to 12 weeks of statutory Neonatal Care Leave. However, the University has decided to increase this entitlement to full pay. This is in addition to maternity/ adoption/ paternity / partner leave and pay. It is available to both parents and all employees regardless of length of service.
This provision has been added to the Family Leave policy in support of the well-being and work-life balance of families. It means that parents can be with their baby in neonatal care without the worry of using up their parental leave and pay entitlement.
