The Living Wage Foundation has announced their latest figure to be implemented from 1 April 2025
At the end of October, the Living Wage Foundation announced their latest figure as £12.60 in the UK and £13.85 in London. Accredited employers must implement the new rate from 1 April 2025.
What does this mean for the University of York?
The University became an Accredited real Living Wage employer in 2021. We continue to be committed to serving as a University for Public Good, and to supporting our community through paying all our employees a wage that meets every day needs.
Our work on the payspine in recent years means that our lowest spine point is currently £12.75 - and is due to increase again from 1 March 2025 when we implement the second part of the National Pay Award. As a result, we are already paying above the real Living Wage, and we don't need to make any changes to the pay spine. Casual rates which are connected to the real Living Wage will be uplifted to £12.60 from 1 April 2025.
