The new templates will reduce the amount of time recruiting managers need to spend writing and approving job descriptions. There will still be space for managers to customise job templates for specialist roles, but most of the template will be prepopulated.
The idea is to step away from a comprehensive list of tasks and duties and instead focus on the core responsibilities, skills and behaviours. By creating this transparent framework of skills and behaviours we can also make it much easier for colleagues to identify career progression routes at the University.
Who are the new templates for?
The new templates cover the "Managerial, Specialist and Administrative" job family. This means that they will be relevant to the vast majority of professional support roles from grade 3 to 8.
We are not replacing the job descriptions of current colleagues. These templates will be phased in when new roles are created e.g via recruitment and restructure activity.
When should I start using them?
The templates are now available on the HR website (filter by management, specialist and administration) and we encourage you to use them in your upcoming recruitments.
We'll be taking a phased approach for the first couple of months, to make sure colleagues have a chance to explore the new templates. From 1 July onwards we will officially move to the new templates for all new PSS recruitments.
