There will be an extended Christmas period from Friday 18 December to Monday 4 January 2021.

The University will remain open for essential operations and services across Christmas and New Year. There will be an extended Christmas period where non-essential operations and services will close from Friday 18 December to Monday 4 January 2021.

We recognise the extraordinary commitment that staff have made in supporting our community response to the pandemic. To recognise this, the University is establishing a clear two week period, which does not require additional annual leave, but which does offer an extended break. For those who support our essential operations and services, we will ensure an equivalent opportunity at a later date.

Annual leave and Christmas closure

Full-time employees have an entitlement to 38 days leave, made up of eight bank holidays and 30 days annual leave. The 30 days annual leave is normally split between 27 days to be taken by arrangement with your manager and three closure days that fall over the Christmas/New Year period.

You need to use time from your annual leave entitlement for the three bank holidays and the three customary closure days.

The additional four concessionary leave days should not be taken from your annual leave entitlement.
